207. My Generation by The Who

The Who - My Generation

The Mod anthem. There's a scene in Quadrophenia where Jimmy goes to a party at some geezers house and they put on this slow song for the couples. Rhythm of The Rain by the Cascades I think it was. Jimmy pulls it off and puts omn My generation and then dances wildly with his mates. I went to a few parties after where people recreated on cassette someone ripping of the Cascades with the scratching noise included and then bang..My Generation. 1980-81. we would dance to this song every week. Recreating the "why don't you all f-f-f. fade away"
And then at the rubber Soul for a good part of the eighties. And then at Lizard Lounge for the 90s. It's just wildly exciting.
Hope I die before I get old. Well that never happened to Pete nor us. put this on and you never feel old.
first heard this on the Stardust OST. Which is the same place Paul Weller first heard it too, so I've read.
People try to put us d-down (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Just because we get around (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Things they do look awful c-c-cold (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I hope I die before I get old (Talkin' 'bout my generation)

This is my generation
This is my generation, baby

Why don't you all f-fade away (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
And don't try to dig what we all s-s-say (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I'm just talkin' 'bout my g-g-g-generation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
