26. I Saw her Standing There by The Beatles 1963

Growing up in Blackpool, England in the early sixties it seemed that the world exploded in a kaleidoscope of beat music. My brother David was lucky enough to see them live because The Beatles would often play Blackpool. I got to see them on the telly on one of the vast array of shows they featured on. It seemed that the streets were moving to the the sound of Mersey Beat. I did get to see one pop star get chased by fans but it was a guy called Tommy Quickly who didn't go very far.
I Saw Her Standing There is the opening track of their first album. One of the best opening tracks of all time. The countdown is like a countdown to a new world order.
There was a girl who lived up the alleyway who used to wear the leather waistcoat as preferred by the Stones and we used to argue (friendly like) about who was the greatest. England was the place to be. So what did my family do? Move to Australia!
One night at the Jump Club Little Murders played this song. The audience of Mods gave it the thumbs down. So we stopped playing it. Still it was a great song to play. It just jumps.
